*Please note that while this guide contains references to English Martyrs' (LEM), you can change these descriptions for your own school.
If you need to access the school networks (for example your files, or the shared resources O: drive), then you will need to set up the VPN on your school laptop. Instructions on how to do this are provided below.
You’ll need to be added to the VPN group to gain access, so if you’ve not already please request VPN access from IT Support by emailing ITSHelpdesk@Aquinas-CMAT.org.
IT Support will also need access to your school laptop to install the “FortiClient VPN” client app which we will refer to below.
1. Launch the FortiClient VPN client application from your start menu.
2. Once launched, you will see the initial launch screen as shown. Click on ‘Configure VPN’ to get started.
3. Please enter the details as below, where an option is not reference, leave the default option selected.
VPN: SSL-VPN
Connection name: School name
Description: School name or school code
Remote Gateway: 80.94.198.162
Customize port: (ticked) and set to: 10443
Authentication: Save login
Username: Your school network login (e.g. jbloggs)
4. Now click the blue ‘Save’ button to confirm the configuration settings.
5. You are now ready to connect to the VPN, enter your school network login password into the password field
6. Once you have clicked ‘Connect’, the ‘Status’ will begin to increase from 0% to 100%. Please be patient while the app establishes a secure connection.
7. Once the status has reached 100%, the screen will change to show a confirmed connection to the school VPN. This is demonstrated below.
8. You will now be able to connect to your files and shared drives such as the O: drive.
Please note that the VPN will not work when you are connected to any of the school networks including school Wi-Fi. Attempting to connect to the VPN when on the school network will produce errors that will not appear when you are working from home or elsewhere.
If you have any further problems or questions about the VPN, please raise a ticket with IT Support by emailing ITSHelpdesk@Aquinas-CMAT.org.
